The Impacts Of Covid-19 On The Construction Industry

As restrictions are lifted and life begins to return slowly to normal, we would like to thank our clients for their patience and understanding in what has been a difficult period for all of us.

Covid-19 has impacted all areas of the construction industry.  Constructionline and Build UK have, in collaboration, produced an infographic to show the direct impacts of Covid on our industry by asking almost 8,000 Constructionline members to complete a survey about their own experiences within the workplace over the last 17 months.

In the survey, 86% of members said that their business had been affected, with 62% of businesses needing to suspend operations as a result of Covid-19, with an overall estimated cost to the Constructionline Supplier Community at £2.9 billion.*

Emergency Glass Panel Replacement in Bristol

Emergency Glass Panel Replacement in Bristol

At LFT Maintenance we can help if ever an emergency maintenance issue arises. Find out more about our latest call out to Bristol below.

For a recent emergency call out to Bristol’s busy Temple Quay area, our team removed and replaced a shattered glass panel from the One Glass Wharf office.

To allow the cranes to move the 1.7m x 4m glass panels – and for our specialised glazing team to conduct the procedure safely – we were able to close down Avon Street and resolve the emergency accordingly on behalf of our client, Knight Frank.

In situations such as these, we are always able to assist outside of office hours.

Difficult Access, London

Difficult Access, London

Location: Paddington, London

Project: UKAS Accredited CWCT Hose Test Via Rope Access.

Our trained team of IRATA abseilers were able to overcome difficult rigging situations to complete testing. With a steel beam surrounding the facade and a large glass parapet wall with a cladding handrail, LFT utilised their knowledge in rigging and used a portable A-frame with 0.5m overhang to get to a difficult test location.

Water Testing, London

Water Testing, London

Location: Nile Street, London

Client: Permasteelisa

Project: UKAS Accredited CWCT Hose Test.

Our trained team of LFT technicians had an interesting job rigging from the 26th floor and completing a CWCT hose test to levels 17,18,19,20 and 21 via rope access.

Hose testing is intended for the testing of permanently sealed joints. The high-pressure water spray should not dislodge gaskets or wet-applied sealants unless they have been poorly installed or not been allowed to cure. Water will be forced through small gaps in these types of seal and will find its way through unsealed joints between framing components.

LFT’s Commitment to Sustainability

At LFT we are committed to moving towards more sustainable and eco-friendly practices and continue to explore the various ways in which we can progress to achieve this aim.

Currently, we are proud to be able to provide two services that are eco-friendly alternatives, and which leave a limited carbon footprint in comparison to more traditional methods.

Industrial Abseiling

Industrial abseiling, which uses no power, offers a greener solution than MEWPS. It is also cost-effective and our IRATA trained abseilers can reach areas of difficult access quickly and can promptly begin the necessary work required – without the need for road closures, expensive scaffolding, powered access platforms, or causing disruptions for the residents on-site and passing pedestrians.

Pure Water System

A pure water system is the fastest and most efficient way to clean a façade, as well as being environmentally friendly due to the complete absence of chemicals. It requires no drying time and leaves no deposits – guaranteeing streak-free results, as well as saving time, money, and the environment.
